O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria

Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.

Ad te clamamus exsules filii Evae,
ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.

Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;
et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.
Amen, Alleluia!

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile show unto us
the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Amen, Alleluia!

Oh, lovely. I LOVE Latin, especially when brought into the Mass. The first time I heard this chanted was after the funeral Mass of a priest. Our bishop sang, "Salve Regina," and then the rest of the priests (probably 40) joined in. I got goosebumps. A month later, I was at the funeral of another priest (it was unfortunate, the loss of these two good men within weeks of each other) and the bishop again began the Salve Regina, this time joined by about 60 priests. It was AMAZING. I have it on iTunes, and each time it pops up, I get goosebumps.

Aubrey, I love it too. That Mass sounds like it was amazing. Around my town the churches don't use Latin or chant much, if at all--definitely on my wish list. Thanks for reading!
